. Does anyone make a stainless steel pump shotgun? I have had nickel and chrome plated pieces get scratched with hard use and have rust boil up around the scratch. I have never had that happen to a stainless steel gun. I have several pistols, revolvers, and rifles in stainless, but I've never seen a stainless steel shotgun.

If no one makes them, then why not?

Thanks in advance for any info.

As I recall Mossberg made their 'Mariner' model in both 6 & 8 shot mag tubes with a black sythetic stock and stainless hardware. I think Winchester did the same.

#I thought the Winchester 1300 marine had a stainless barrel and aluminum #receiver # #never seen a stainless receiver though... would probably weigh a ton

Nah, a few more ounces. Keep in mind the supurb Rem 870 has a carbon steel receiver as did the discontinued S&W 3000.

Model 1300 Winchester 'marine model' following copied from their website:

With a nickel-plated stainless steel barrel, corrosion resistant, anodized aluminum alloy receiver and key parts that are plated for corrosion resistance, the Coastal Marine is naturally very popular in saltwater environments. Specifically, the coastal bear country of Alaska where lesser guns simply waste away. 18' barrel length with cylinder bore choke. Eight-shot magazine capacity. Sling swivel studs included. Removable front TRUGLO® fiber optic sight Lee308

I have a S&W 3000 12gauge pump I bought used at a police auction for $70. That is one sweet shotgun. It has a parkerized coating, not as good as the afore mentioned 'marine' models ( which also kick butt ) but the S&W 3000 is a slick-shuckin' dependable 12gauge pump. It only holds 4 rounds in the tube, but as my Dad used to say - If you need more that 4 rounds of 00 buck to solve a situation - you got serious problems. I also have a 5 shot shell holder on the stock which I keep loaded with a variety of slug, 00 buck, Rhodesian Jungle Round and 1 non-lethal sandbag round. I also keep it loaded with only 3 rounds of reduced-recoil 00 buck in the tube so I have the option of rackin up a round of 00 buck upon grabbing it or loadin in a slug or non-lethal round if the situation calls for it. Yep, that SW3000 is a sweet pump!
