some things to look for are the date on the top of the receiver ,,if it's a rifle model it should be stocked to about 4-5 " from end of barrel,,carbine versions will be half stocked ,,metal should have a plumb or browning cast ,,check barrel condition ,,they used black powder in the old trapdoor cartridges and if it wasn't cleaned it could be ugly ,,but don't let that detract you from buying it ,,i've seen bores look pretty ugly and still shoot good..also look for proof marks on the left side of the stock,,these definatly increase values in collectors eyes,,if in decent shape there around 650-1000 depending on markings ,,year,,ect,,mabey even more if you can get some history to go with it!!anyway you look at this sale it's a win/win for you ,,if you parted it out it would proably bring over 500 in parts,,
..If it's a carbine ,,that could bring the price up and there are some carbines out there that are still in the Custers last stand serial number range..and that would be super cool to have one of those!!
...i know if you don't buy it theres alot of guys here that would be intrested ,,myself included ..if i had some extra cash!!!lol..i know i could move it for double or possibly triple the asking price and mabey more if really nice!!
