Your gun would have been made between 1903 and 1911.

Cornell publications has a reprint if the 1907 catalog available at http://www.cornellpubs.com/old-guns/item_desc.php? item_id=748

Based on their table of contents for that catalog, you probably have a Union Model 22 or 23. It sure would be fun to own both the gun and the catalog...

Value: On line sources for this are tough. The pumps which were popular at Sears because they were less expensive than Steven's pumps are fairly common. The doubles less so.

There have been no auctions involving this gun recently on Gunbroker, my usual source. Auction Arms has two listings for a Union firearms double which sold after six bids for $150. Proxibid lists a Union Firearms Co Side Lock SxS shotgun 12ga #9392 which sold for $60.

On the other hand, Rock Island auction has several lots of 3 or more guns which they have estimated at $700 to $1000 for the lot, which is at least a couple of hundred per gun.

So,if pressed, for a gun in "typical" condition, I would put a probable retail price on it of $100 and an insurance value of $300.

About the company:

They used the names Union Fire Arms, Union Arms Company, Illinois Arms Company and Bee Be Arms Company.

1893 Founded by George Colton as the Colton Manufacturing Co., Lane Street at Sylvan, Toledo, OH. They made the Colton SxS for Sears Roebuck.

1903 Name Changed to Union Fire arms

1905 Moved to 3105-07 Monroe St., Toledo, OH

1911 Name changed to Union Arms Co.

1913 Last listing in Toledo Directory

1913 Sold to Toledo Arms Co. which began operations in 1871 in Toledo, OH.

In 1916-17 Toledo Arms was bought by Ithaca.

They manufactured slide action shotguns, hammerless doubles, a few single shot shotguns, and a couple semi-automatic pistols.
