I've got a Browning BAR with a serial number that doesn't seem to match anything at the Browning "Date your gun" site. The last three characters are M69 (starts with 120xx). Would this mean it was made in 1969?

Thanks in advance for any help.

hello your bar was indeed made in 1969 and yes the M69 after the serial number is the code for 1969

Thanks again Bigcurt. The format just didn't fit what the Browning examples seemed to be.

I contacted browning about my BAR with a s/n that didn't match their format;
my s/n is 04238 M71; they told me the numbers behind the letter are year of manufacture;

they also told me that 'M' means BAR;

your gun is a BAR made in 1969;
the other no's are the no. of gun made
