I would like to know the manufacture date of a Savage 99A in .243. Any help would be appreciated.

the data base i use puts your 99 as being manufactured in 1908-1909.

I'm actually about 100% sure it's not from 1908. It has a tang safety, rotary magazine, and a removable front sight, and from what I understand, the earlier models had different characteristics. Did you by chance get your date of manufacture from http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm ? I had visited that site, but the information seemed wrong. I read somewhere that Savage re-released the 99 from 1980-1995 after briefly discontinuing the line. I have reason to believe it is from that era, based on the aforementioned characteristics and also the shape that the gun is in. I just wanted to get some confirmation.

your correct grogel, i thought that at the time but i have seen 99's rebarreled and by the s/n that what i went on. check out this site, these guys are really up to date on 99's.
