Have been looking at the Ruger P-89 series 9mm. Does anyone have any input on this pistol? Beside being a little big,I like the gun from what I see and how

This gun is on the large size but if you are wanting a strong, reliable, firearm this pistol is hard to beat. I carry Glocks but own four Rugers

I have one and it is a great gun. I have over 6000 rounds through it and never had it jam.

I've had a P89 for about 10 years. It has never fired anything but reloads and in firing 1000's of rounds, I have never had a jam or malfunction no matter what the load has been. I like everything about it EXCEPT the trigger. IT has the WORST trigger of any handgun I have ever fired. Nevertheles, I like the gun alot!

I have a P89 with the decocker and manual safety. I agree with Roadie 100%. It's a fun plinker and reliable and durable but that trigger pull is the worst! Yet still, I always take it to the range and play with it.

Novak's does trigger/action jobs on Ruger P series. The folks at www.rugerforum.com speak highly of their work, but I've never had any experience with them.

I think that one can tell from the comments of the other posts that the Ruger P89 is a good gun. But it has a few shortcomings. This is the kind of a gun that is just about perfect if you use if for it's designed intention. It is a self-defense pistol first and foremost. It's main virtues are that it can be counted on to fire every time you pull the trigger regardless of what kind of ammo you put in it, and it will hold up for a long long time. It's accuracy is only so so and that trigger stinks but for what it is, a self defense weapon, those factors are hardly of prime importance. This gun does a great job when use in the niche it is designed for but it is not very good at anything else. If what you want the gun for what it was designed to do, then it's the gun for you. Throw in the fact that it is one of the least expensive and yet quality firearms around, you will probably like a P series Ruger very much.

I agree with other positive posts on the p89

If you purchase one, be sure to get the Hogue grips, otherwise, that Ruger logo will be imprinted on the palm of your hand after running a few boxes of ammo in it !
