Just seen a Ruger Blackhawk 3 screw in 30 carbine, a friend wants to sell it to me, it's NIB and he states it was made in 1969, whats it worth?

$425-450 for NIB, assuming it has the original factory box and no cylinder ring from turning.

Also, has it been converted by Ruger to the newer transfer bar design. Old Models from 1953-1963 and 63-73 did not have the safety transfer bar. This is a flat metal bar that rests between the hammer and the firing pin when cocking the hammer back. Supposed to prevent accidental firing.

Will have less value if it has been sent to Ruger and had the bar installed. Ruger returns the old parts when they perform this and if retained by the owner, can be re-installed back to original factory spec.

Have you fired one of these revolvers? Be prepared for concussion and blast that will absolutely amaze the uninitiated. Great, flat shooting, low recoiling shooter, but loud!

I was at the indoor shooting range one day and another shooter at the far end of the booths was touching off one of these. I was just burning up some underpowered 9mm reloads to reclaim the brass, hearing the pop pop pop from my own pistol in-between clearing the jams... Then comes this resounding KABAM. I swept up my brass and went to investigate. We got to talking single actions. He and a friend were there firing his battery which included a .30 carbine Ruger... The muzzle flash is pretty outstanding too in dim lighting conditions, easily equal to my Vaquero in ..44 Magnum with UMC yellow box stuff. (And that basketball sized flaming pumpkin caused me some consternation and flinching indoors but not outdoors... <G>

The round itself might not be impressive, but the thunder and lightning from it in the Ruger are... <G>

No it does not have the Ruger conversion, didn't know if I wanted to shoot it or not if it was worth big money, looks like I'll shoot it.
