What makes the RG 14 22 9al a lousy revolver?

The RG-14's only claim to fame was that one was used by John Hinckley to shoot Ronald Reagan. Sadly, that time it worked, something that is never certain with those guns.

Also sadly, the gun isn't safe, the hammer down on a loaded chamber can fire on a bump.

RG 14 list cost was $12.95 and the base pin had to be unscrewed to remove the cylinder, as it wasn't a swing-out. The frame is a zinc alloy "Pot Metal" and is easly broken.

It exceeded Jennings and Phoenix in being a cheap "Saturday Night Special" gun.

Post the 1968 federal firearms act they were prohibited from import.
