I just purchased some new Winchester 308 Brass. Do I need to full length resize the new brass like I do for once fired brass or is the brass ready to reload? Thanks.

I've heard that it should be resized but haven't found that necessary. My recommendation is to just load and shoot it. Then, neck size it when reloading. Dennis D. Carter

Always best to resize first. Then you'll know it will chamber in your gun. It'd be a real downer if you had to pull the bullets and start all

I personally always resize my new brass. It straightens out any dents or dings in the case neck area.

Yes, you will need to resize it. Also check to see if it is all the same length. If making target loads you might want to weigh it and seperate it by weight.

Resize it to make sure the case neck is concentric.

Hi Jim:

For new .308 brass I run the sizer die down enough to size the neck. I don't use lube when I do this type of sizing.

Check OAL and trim if needed. Probably best to inside/outside chamfer new cases, but sizing not required.

Dear Jim: I always resize new brass and ream the primer pockets and flash holes. That way I know they are dimensionally the same as my other brass. - CW

You might check for flash hole burrs and run an expander button through the necks to iron out dents and dings. Then trim to uniform length and i/o chamfer the case mouth. If you're firing them in a bolt gun just neck size them after that. Don't expect to get a _lot_ of accuracy untill they've been 'fire formed' for your chamber. Course if you're using a gas gun your re-runs will need to be full-length resized.
