Have a Remington Rand M1911 A1 pistol. Ser. #1493785. Says property of united states US Army on right side. Remington rand inc. syracuse, ny on left. Also have 2 full clips and 1 empty, leather US Army issue holster. Wondering what this is worth and any info about year and such.
Looks in good shape other than some surface rust from handling.
thanks

hello,,your remington rand 1911 was made in 1944 ..It sounds pretty correct with the markings you stated ,,finish was a parkerized finish over sand blasting ,,which will give it a dull look ,,grips should be plastic and it should have a serated mainspring houseing ..should have a FJA proof on the slide and an HS stamped barrel,,value for these late war issue remingtons would be between 800-around 1200 in good-vg condition,,add another 100 if the holster is a brown leather ww2 dated holster or 40-50 if a black dated holseter,,

Yeah the holster is brown leather with US on flap Enger-kress on back.also have nylon belt with nylon 2clip holster(russell 1918)4 clips not 3. 2 with L stamped on heel and 2 with S stamped on hell. Are they original?Gun has FJA on left side but can't find stamp on barrel. Where to look? All the rest sounds right. How do I get the surface rust off to get back in vg condition. Also where can i find directions on how to disassemble and clean.

Thanks for all the help and the quick response

I brought a blue kit and re blued it, turned out like a new gun. I don't know if you would want to do it if your planning on selling it, mine got passed down to me, my great uncle was shoot down with it fighting the nazis, so ill keep passing it down! serial 1948765 FJA it does have some kind of stamp at the top of the right grip, some kind of cross or something does yours have this?
