I have a remington rand inc. 1911a1 that starts off with 811xxx I would like to know the history of the serial number since i can only find ones that start off in the 9's any help would be appreciated

well i can tell you that you possibly have either a arsenal rebuilt pistol useing a remington rand slide,,or someone has put it together and sold it as a remington rand pistol,,the frame serial number was assigned to colt and thats the slide that should be on it ,,many worn out 45's were rebuilt useing whatever parts were available so theres a chance your is one of these..you have to remember that some of these 1911 saw action from ww1 thru vietnam and things wear out ,,

,,value wise i'd still estimate that a rebuild gun should bring 750-1000 if all military parts ,,
