Can anyone give me the approximate value of this pistol and accessories?
Pistol: Mfg-Remington Rand; Serial No: 1021128;Marked -'United States Propert M1911 Ai U.S. Army' 'HJA' on left side above trigger.
Three clips (no markings on clips)
Holster: Embossed "US" on flap, BoyT 42 on back.
Cartridges: Two boxes og 50 ea; one from Olin Matheson Chemical, Lot 6740, one from Evensville Ordinance Plant, Lot No. S-S-25294.
Gun is used, but in very good condition with only a slight wear mark below the slide lock.
Inherited from my Father-in-law who served in WWI from North Africa through Northern Italy.

hello ,,very nice pistol,,your remington was made in 1943 and ther were 3 types made type 1 had the words New York on the slide type 2 had a large NY stamp and type 3 had a small ny stamp ,,the letter you refer to should be FJA which stood for Frank J Atwater who was the final inspector at the arsenal before issue..prices for the pistol alone are for type one slide good -very good 1500-2000,,for type 2 slide values would range between 1000-1500,,for the type 3 slide prices would range from 900-1100,,for your acc's unmarked mags usually sell between 15-25 bucks a peice ,,the holster is a ww2 reissue,,and was proably redyed black and originally brown..but dated like it is is still worth around 30-45 bucks,,the 2 boxes of ammo would proably bring 25-30 each,,so as a package your pistol would be somewhere between 1100-2500+ depending on the type slide it has at auction or to a private collector..

Thanks for the feedback. I can't find any of the specific masrkings you mentioned on the slide. The only marking on the slide (outside)reads "Remington Rand Inc. Syracuse, NY USA". Does that tell me what type of slide it is?

hello again ,,that helps ,,the NY in the address is the marks i refered to ,,heres something to look at ,,look at the address line on the slide if the A in USA is almost even with the back side toward the hammer of the slide release ,,then you proably have the large NY type 2 slide ,,the release should be checkered also ,,if the A in USA is about half way in the middle of the slide release it's proably the small letter type 3 slide and the slide release will proably be straight lines instead of checkered ,,,,if ya can post a pic of the left side where the address is ,,that should tell the story..

Thanks again. From your description, I think it is a Type 3 slide, but here's an image to verify.

thanks that answers the question ..it's a type 3 slide and now we can value it better,,i'd say the package you have should value 1500. at auction or to a colt collector.. mabey a little more at the right auction house,,thanks for the pics..and also that is the FJA proof under your slide stop,,
