I recently purchased a Remington side by side 12 ga. It is either an 1894 or 95. It is hammerless and has automatic shell ejectors. It is walnut and damascus. The serial number is 100488. The condition is goos but the wood has two small problems, nothing to affect the shooting, only the cost. Any one know anything about this gun like what is it worth and when was it made? The checkering is subperb. There grip is rounded with there never having been a grip cap. There is Remington Arms on the receiver area. Any help is appreciated. JAM

Ok, ya all kin 10-22 on the question. In my own research yesterday I got lucky and found an expert on Remington Double guns. Mine turns out to be the 488th gun produced and left the factory in 1894 thus it is a 1894 model. He refers to it as the AE model which merely means it has automatic ejectors. The gun is worth in excess of fifteen hundred dollars and would go as high as what a person was wanting to spend....Thats always the story. No matter what a thing is worth, its only going to bring what a person is willing to give. The trick is always in the marketing. Guns are as addicting as sex and last longer. JAM

To get 1,500 it would have to be in pretty darn good condition, good case colors and all. If it's brown with some wood problems it's an 8-900 gun.
