your model 721 remington should bring 350 VG-450 EXC at auction or to a remington collector,,good rifles and made from 1948-1962,,there should be a date code on the barrel left side near the woodline around the rear site somewhere ,,should proably be a 2 or 3 letter code sometimes in an oval ,,the first letter is the month and there easy to figure ,,take this word BLACKPOWDERX and the B is Jan. and the X is December and whatever letter the first one is.. use the word like a calender the other letters ya need a book or if ya go to remingtons site i beleive they can date it or we can do it with the letters..dealers may offer between 250-300 cash or trade in value,,mabey alittle more if really clean on a trade up..scope sounds about the right vintage for your rifle but i don't think it will add much value wise in the deal.. there were 3 models available ,,a standard model,,an ADL model and a BDL model but the price difference is only 25-50 bucks more for the fancier models,,

How do you find out what year it is (not just the month)?

check here and once ya find your barrel code ya have to know what years they were made and refrence the code number list under the remington section,,your rifle should fall between the years of 1948-1962 so look at the date code on the left side of the rifle wher the barrel meets the receiver and there should be a 2 letter code there and then check the list between the years made and wala it should give ya the month and the year ,, https://store.bluebookinc.com/info/PDF/Firearm/ Serialize.pdf
