I'm looking for a new rifle in .30-06. I've narrowed my choices to the Remington 700 BDL or the Browning A-Bolt Medallion. Can anyone offer some advice as to which rifle is the better choice? Also, If anyone has a better recommendation in the $650-$700 range, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks for your time,

I own both, and if anybody tries to tell you one is better that the other remember that their 'reasoning' is purely subjective. Choose the rifle you like, not the rifle everyone else likes. Also, when asking about the best bolt action rifle, look out for the Winchester Model 70, Ruger Model 77, and Savage 110 crowds. All five of them are good.

Tom,

I have a 700 BDL .30-06 and it's a very nice rifle. I also have an A-Bolt Medallion in .308 with the BOSS

I've had Ruger and Remington rifles in .30-06. The Ruger is a more reliable design, the Remington was slightly more accurate. I'd take the Ruger any time. I've had a friend who was very dissatisfied with his Browning. Browning and Winchester would not be my first choices.

I have a Rem 700 BDL 30-06. Got it about 20 years ago. Never had a problem with it. Great rifle ! Maybe 10 years ago I put a Leupold VX2 on it. Love the combination.

Best thing about the 30-06 is that no matter where you go, if they sell ammo, they will have a box of 30-06.

Interesting you asked on the 4th of July. The Rem 700 is an all American rifle and you can't get more American than the 30-06.
