I have one of these also, and use the Hornady, Remington and CCI ammo (CCI is the only hollowpoint), all without a problem. I have shot less of the CCI, because it's scarce here, though. I think though that the ballistic performance is markedly better on the vmax bullets though, without much difference in the expansion/disentigration of the round on game.
On my 597, I bought a bore snake to run thru it, and swab it after about 10-15 shots as a rule of thumb.
Will yours eject a round if you manually work the bolt, rather than by firing?
