Hello,

I just purchased a Remington 03-A3 (30-06) riffle. I was wondering how much they are going in okay condition. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to do a search, but I cannot find the search button.

Thanks!

It all depends on the condition of the gun. How much wear, scrapes, gouges, rust. More info is needed. In very good condition they fetch a high price. If you have a pic, please include it.

Hello,

Here are some pictures of the riffle. Let me know if you need me to take a picture of a particular part of the riffle. I really appreciate your help.

One more thing, the only markings I found on the riffle are as follows:

US
Remington
Model 03-A3
3828649

Someone mounted a scope on the riffle. Let me know what you can tell me about this riffle. Thank you very much.

In a gun show in my area your gun would go for around 650-800. The military versions go for quite alot more due to historical value. Many of these guns were sporterized like yours. Excellant hunting rifles but devalued due to de-milling. It's a great looking gun. I hope you enjoy it.

That's awesome! Makes me feel even better about my purchase. I only paid $300 at a gun show this past weekend. The gun was really dirty when I picked it up, but it cleaned up really good and easily. I really appreciate your help. I did do some research, and I did see that the gun was sporterized and the value drops dramatically, but it looks like a great riffle anyway. I really appreciate your help.

Regards,

Al

Just rember that the value of you gun will change with the area you live in. My part of Idaho puts a premium on well made reliable bolt action rifles, wich yours is. Other states and locals will differ.

Ok. I know exactly what your mean. I am just happy I picked up a reliable riffle. I knew the "Springfield" is synonymous with reliability, so I took a chance with the purchase of this riffle. I am glad it is going to pay off. I am going to try it out this coming weekend in search for some Texas bucks, so we'll see how she does. Thanks again for all your help.

Regards,

Al

hi al,
great looking 03, amazing that a firearm made in 1942 is still a funtional, reliable and accurate firearm. sporterizing it probly just gave it another 50yrs of pratical use. real nice firearm.

You're absolutely right Kim. This riffle looks as good as the other riffle that where next to it that where only about 10 years old. My brother was amazed when I told him how old the riffle was. I think I think I just found a new hobby (collecting military riffles).

Hi-FYI- your Rem 1903A3 was made August 1943. I just bought a similar sporterized Rem1903A3 off of Auction Arms for a winning bid of $292.00+$25.00 S&H=$317.00-it had a Williams adjustable rear peep sight and a front ramp with a small globe front sight. You made a good purchase. The 1903A3 was a great rifle to sporterize back in the day because the rear sight was on the rear receiver bridge and not on the barrel as on the original 1903 model. Further info can be had at: www.vishooter.home.att.net/ra_serialization.txt "gunguy"

Does the telescope come with the rifle originally?
Did they have telescopes those days?

Gunguy56, What is the difference between the 1903A3 and the 03A3? The value for this riffle seems to be all over the place. I saw a very similar gun to mine for sale on one of the auction for $800. Very interesting riffle.

Admin, the riffle did not originally come with the scope. Somebody tapped and added the scope to the riffle.

A 03A3 and a 1903A3 are the same thing. Those in the know usually refer to it as a 03A3. Link works for me...

I recently posted wanting some info on my Remington 30.06 with serial #3264XXX. Thanks to some real quick response I found out that this rifle was a re-work by Golden State Arms. it is not nearly as sporterized as yours. It wasn't tapped for scope mounts and I had that done. Finding a scope mount that would let the bolt open was a real chore. Now I would like to know if someone can tell me the approximate date of mfg. by serial number given above. By the way the red rubber butt plate looks just like mine.

I believe it is a 1942-1943 rifle. It is really a neat gun.

I inherited a 03A3 from my father and presumably my grandfather... It was sportsized. I would like to find an original stock. Anyone knows where to obtain one??

try ebay with a search of springfeild or springfeild stock,,proably not gonna be cheap,,another auction site to look at would be gunbrokers.com or auction arms with the same search words ,,also try just "springfeild" sometimes that works as well or better,,don't forget you need handguards and bands also to return it back to military spec..
