hello,,the model 11 remington was a gas operated semi auto shotgun based on john brownings design,,it was used in ww1 +ww2 .some of the military versions will have a 20" riot barrel and should be military marked,,most were blued but some may be encountered with a parkerized finish and as such may be marked MILITARY FINISH with a flaming bomb and US on the barrel,,There were long barreled models used for military training and overall the us military bought about 15000 of this model,,the longer barreled version is noted as being used for aerial gunnery training,, and may be what you have ..none of my refrence books show the training version markings but do say that the stocks were not checkered on the military versions,,and may be martially marked... possibly this is the reason yours would have the anchor designating naval training use..but thats just a guess since i have never seen one with the anchor markings,,you might do a search on "us military shotguns of ww1" and may see some models and markings,if you can find your particular model and it is a military version the standard cataloge of military firearms list the values of the military version between 350-1500,,and i would put a trade value on it from 500-1000+ to a military shotgun collector,,although the long barrel model will usually be the cheaper of the 2 versions available..
