hello,,your rifle sound like it's had some customizing at some time in it's life because i never herd of remington inlaying diamond shape inlays in the 721 line they had 2 grades of stocks ,,plain walnut ,,and a select wood but the select wood didn't have inlays,,if they were done professionally they proably make it a very nice looking but doesn't really do anything for the value to a remington collector..current book values all grades and versions from 200-550 in original condition,,your's could go either way being customized.. also the 721's were made from 1948-1962 and to get a better date there should be a letter code on the left side of the barrel where it meets the receiver ,,it will proably be a code like AD or WW something like that ,,the first letter will be a month code and the second letter will be the year...

bigcurt Thanks!
Appreciate your input/time. Had not seen a stock like this on a factory product, but I'm not a 721 official. Looks like a good product, and nice work, good fit, comfortable hand grip & cheek rest.
Left barrel marks: (L to R) 3 really small triangles,
then w i i 8, marks are not will defined except maybe the 8. Barrel looks clean to the eye. It came with a HAWK, J.UNERTL, 4X scope so someone may have known something. Trigger is crisp, maybe 2.5#.
Need to see how it shoots. happy hunting

hello again ,,well the w stands for august and possibly the 2 that look like I's might be T's ..so if it's wtt it would have been made in august of 1949 theres really no other letter in the years made that would look simular to an I,,there is a J code for 1962 so i'd imagine it's either a J or 2 T's poorly struck,,the hawk unertal scope definatly raises the value on this one proably at least 200+ ..these were basically a plain jain stocked model ..thats proably why it was dressed up so nicely ..and i bet it really is a great looking 721 compared to the plain jane look it came from the factory with..sounds like ya got a good one for the keeper list!!

Need some range (play time) time with it, make sure everythings working, it might be a keeper. It'll be fun getting to know it a little bit, see how it shoots and if its consistant. Will look the stock over a little closer and decide on it. cactus jim
