I would like to ask everybody's input in trying to re-categorize the forum so that it will express more clarity and detailed information.

The moderators and admins here have already started this between themselves but everybody's input is very welcome.

I look forward to your suggestions,

Copper

It seems to me the categories that are getting the most hits are the ones to keep like Welcome, General Discussions, Question's & Answers, and Tips & Tricks You might keep Picture's. Also a place with links to gun sites would be helpful...........Doug

PS You guys do a wonderful job.

Thanks Doug That sure makes sense.
It is just that perhaps sub-categorizing the forum would make it more comprehensible?

Perhaps changing " compare Deals" to " For Sale" ?
I also have accumulated alot of great links over some time, like ammo, and supplies, would be great to have a spot dedicated to sharing that if possible.

One last thought. You guys give so much for free, and offer such detailed feedback, yet I notice everyday day posts where people ask the "bare minimum", and most times not enough for you to answer. Perhaps something at the top of the "Gun Values" section asking them to give detailed description and say picture is worth a thousand words?
Thank you all for what you do !
Thumbs up karma just doesn't seem enough for your hard work.

Perhaps changing " compare Deals" to " For Sale" ?

I was thinking about it, though the idea was that if many sellers would place their guns here, people would be able to compare the deals.

I also have accumulated alot of great links over some time, like ammo, and supplies, would be great to have a spot dedicated to sharing that if possible.

This is why we have "members recommended resources", maybe I'll just change that to "members links"

That thought is killing me too - I stared thinking that we need this on the top of the site, just near the logo...
We already made such a sticky, with an explanation how to post a question.
Probably when there's a special section of the gun values, people would see this sticky better (it would be in front of their faces when they post, unlike now that posts are dropping on all categories...)

I think I'm mentioned this before (or maybe because I complain about this everywhere

I think it would be beneficial to have a "How to ask a good question" link that encourages people to click and read maybe at the top of the Ask a question before they ask...

Don't tell me it's in pretty good condition, what the heck does that mean? I don't know what it is, it's 3 feet long with some writing on it. Great sounds like my toilet plunger...

Really good questions get the best answers.

Too funny ! Your alot like me silconesorcerer, speak what's on your mind, LOL.
I think you guys are frigin saints for all the detail info you give someone who comes on 1 time to say what's it worth. No picture, sometimes no model #.
No details, no reponse, that would send the message.
Okay, I'll jump off my soapbox now, hee hee.

Question - is the problem mainly with guests or with registered members?
I might have an idea how to bold the post you have written about it.

my suggestion would be to only be able to ask value, age etc if you've registered. i've got a model 12 win, how much it it worth requires more key time than it's worth. this forum provides a service that's becoming more and more needed by uninformed people. if i'm giving out a free lunch i won't to know whom i've giving it to....just my $.03....

So, do you think it's better now with the new UI.
I mean people get the message of "Describe your problem" just in front of their nose...

Well, looks like someone just proved Kims point.
Just came on and see 10 "what's it worth" from 12pm to 2:30pm eastern from non- registered user and notice they don't even say Thank you or please, LOL
Ok, thats my 3 cents

Well, from my stats most registered users behave the same...

I wonder though, do people give now better information when asking questions, after I placed the description request message just where they post?
