Last night I got pulled over by a small town country bumpkin punk ass cop. I was very polite and professional, even though he pulled me over for something petty and ludicrous. I politely and calmly handed him my DL and CHL. As soon as I told him I was armed, he went into a completely different attitude. He made me get out of my truck, put my hands on the hood, he patted me down and then told me to keep my hands on the truck while he confiscated my firearm (he did return it, but only after I REMINDED him). He then waltzed back to his cruiser and spent the next 10-15 minutes sitting on his fat lazy ass, probably doing a complete FBI search to try and find any little thing to arrest me for. He finally returned, gave me my ID and CHL back, and then gave me a ticket. No big deal on the ticket, technically, I earned it.

The thing that pisses me off is that he treated me more like a criminal than a citizen when he learned that I was armed, albeit legally. I've been pulled over by two sheriff's departments, Texas DPS, Houston HPD, and not a single one of them searched my person, treated me like an asshole, or disrespected me in any way. This #&^#*& *&(*&&# smalltown cop apparently has some issue with responsible citizens who pass an FBI and state background check, are issued a legal concealed handgun license, and then are completely cooperative and honest with law enforcement. What a piece of XXX human being. If only he had searched my vehicle without my permission, then I could return the inconvenience in court. For now I'll just have to settle with bitching and writing the Tomball Municipal Court a $125 check.

Ok, around here a $125 fine means you were GREATLY exceding the speed limit. Hey Bubba, going 65 thru the town with a 30 MPH speed limit on a very early Sunday morning will get the local cops attention.

You were 'very polite and professional'? C'mon.....

Why don't you write to the point registered letters to every one of his superiors (including police and elected officials) in a very professional manner about that officers unprofessional behavior and poor representation of it's police force.

You might also want to, again, well thought out and well planned, tell your case to every local media available.

Be sure to let ALL his supperiors know that you plan to contact all such public talk programs to let the audiences know just how badly that officer represents their police force, and also how the administration has chosen to deal with that officer.

You might get a pro-citizen pro-gun higher up to give that moron a good chewing out and demotion. Police officers do get reprimands, they do get fired, they do get desk duty, they do get bottom of the barrel police car cosmetic care duty.

If you conduct yourself professionally and intelligently enough, I would say this is not a big feat to achieve, but you have to present yourself as a nice, intelligent, honest individual average every day citizen, coming into contact with an unprofessional officer.

If you're not willing to at least persue the matter, you really have no right to complain. If you allow a police officer to be unprofessional with you, and do not follow the proper avenues to correct your actions, you've helped purpetrate it, and therefor deserve it.

If i were you, my chief complaint would be unprofessional behaivor, that i was treated as a criminal, without any reported specifice crime commited, without any evidence fo a crime committed. A police officer that treats honest people like criminals is a civil rights lawsuit timebomb waiting to happen. If the adminstration sees this guy as a potential multimillion dollar lawsuit waiting to happen, you can be sure they'll put his hindparts in check.

If he said anyting unproffessional, persue that as well. Check to see what your state's local review board criteria is. Contact the state internal affairs division, if you know that he has in any way acted beyond the scope of his duties.

this is of course, assumign the officer was unproffesional, and not courtious, and indeed treat you like a criminal after you first provided him with proper proof of being legal.

forgive any spelling errors, it's 5 am. here.

After you calm down ... contact his supervisor, whom ever that may be, and report him. That could be a Chief, the Mayor, Village council, etc. There is no reason at all for him to act the way he did. If you don't get satisfaction there, go higher.

Good luck.

After you cool off, how about writing a few letters. The Chief of police of Tomball, the TCLOES, perhaps the Attorney General for Texas. If I were doing it, I would ask a neutral party to read the letters before sending to make sure they were not inflammatory which would get them thrown away.

I guess it takes all kinds! Iwas the licensced driver in fender bender involving a young'un with a learner's permit at the wheel of my car (daughter's friend). When the cop asked for my lic. I also showed him my chl and told him I was carrying a s&w mod 66 in a clamshell holster on my right hip. He smiled and said 'good choice I've been thinking about a revolver for off-duty' We chatted about guns, hunting and shooting for a few minutes s until the wrecker came. He was a nice as he could be and very reassuring to my teenage driver who had just had her first crash. This was in a small country town in upstate New York! ( yeah, I

Why not write a letter to the chief of police and the mayor if you feel that strongly about it? If you don't complain to them they cannot correct the problem even if they're inclined to.

I always go armed, where I legally can, and I have been pulled over while armed, HOWEVER, I would never volunteer that information. Once upon a time, an officer asked if I had any weapons and I told him I did and that I had a C and C permit. No big deal, showed it and it was a non-issue. Was there a reason you felt he had to know, or is there a legal reason? Him getting bent outta' shape is pretty ironic since he walked up to your car carrying a weapon. Maybe it was your demeanor or the way you said it. I don't know, I wasn't there, but you can plead you case to his superiors.

Whatever you did 'to earn' the ticket couldn't be that 'petty'... $125 for bail seems pretty steep to me....... Why did he pull you over to start with, and what about the other outfits? I'll bet Rodney King & you could have a real nice chat, about being victimized by punk ass cops........ Don

The two ideas don't seem to wash together. What was your violation?

##&^#*& *&(*&&# smalltown cop apparently has some issue with #responsible citizens who pass an FBI and state background check, are #issued a legal concealed handgun license, and then are completely #cooperative and honest with law enforcement. What a piece of XXX #human being. #

Your choice of descriptors and attitude toward an officer you don't otherwise know, nor have had previous experience with, does not add to your credibility. I wonder if some of this attitude didn't manifest itself in your contact with the officer?

The actions that the officer took are not particularly good for PR, nor do they pass muster with RKBA crowd with strong feelings. They may have been an overreaction due to a perception problem or a lack of experience. Who knows.

From an administrative perspective, the light cast in review of this incident will consider factors including the legal grounds for his actions, circumstances of the stop, department policies, and discretionary gray area of officer safety that is afforded to each officer. The officers actions, on their face, do not appear to offer grounds for disciplinary action. I also suspect that you will also not get the public flogging with city government, media, etc that others have suggested. You'll look like a whiney nutcase, and do no gun toters any favors.
