Price aside, are there any cons to purchasing a SigPro polymer framed gun over a more traditional sig like the 226?
This is my first purchase of any type of gun and I want to get it right. I like the price of the SigPro, but if there is some reason to spend more to get the 226, maybe I'll have to do it. The salesman said that it only costs less because there's alot less machining involved in manufacture, which makes sense.
I do have a limited budget, so price is a concern. Thanks for your help!

The only reason I could think of is that you can't get hi-cap mags for the SigPro. Since it was designed after the '94 hi-cap ban there aren't any pre-ban magazines. It's possible the 9mm version may accept mags from an older model Sig - I have the .357/.40 so I don't know about that. It should be easy enough to check out. Other than that, it's an extremely well made gun, very accurate (most accurate pistol I own) and very reliable. I've checked out some P226's at gun shows and wouldn't even consider trading, much less spending an extra $200 for it.
