I have a Parker Hale in 30-06. The stock's finish began to fail. May have been shot40 times. In mint condition. Redwood tip on stck was squared off, not round. I also purchased the scope mounds but no scope was included. They were some strange size, and didn't fit the 4 poer Redfield scope that I latr purchased for it. So, I had the mounts bored out to fit a redfield scope. It never shot dead straight, I adjusted the scope after it fired 1/2" to the left. One click the other way and it fired 1/2" to the right!!! So, I removed the action and barrel and refinished the stock. What a Mistake!! I test fired it and couldn't find the bullet hole at 100 yards. I had to take it to a gunsmith to have it boresighted. Haven't retried it yet. I would like to know about the advisibility of "glassing in the barrel. I don't know what that means, and I hope someone responds, please!!

hello,,i can help you some here ,,glass bedding is a prosess where you take a product called arca glass (sold thru brownells) and build up the contact aeras around the action and barrel channel so theres no movement when the rifles fired ,,most of the time the aeras in question are around the recoil lug and around the action so theres no movement when fired the barrel channel should have the thickness of a dollar bill clearance down to the lug point ,,ther are many good site online that will show exactly where to bed the action for accuracy,,i really never did the job myself but watched a gunsmith where i used to work do many of them..i think before i'd go to the work involved with bedding right now i'd maybe look at the mounts again and possibly shoot it now since it was bore sited just to see if it "on" now,,it a job glass bedding and unless you actually removed wood when you refinished the rifle in the lug or action screw aera it shouldn't have effected the bedding of the rifle it sounds more like a site problem than possibly the action unless it's loose in the stock,,but if you search "glass bedding a rifle " online you should find some site that will explain the prosess better and proably show you step by step instructions

,,i bought a parker hale rifle for my son's first rifle in the early 90's it was built on a springfield action and if memory serves me correct it never shot that well,,it wouldn't hold the zero either so i traded it and got him a savage 110,,best rifle i ever bought for outa the box accuracy!and still shoots like the day we bought it..
