Older Rossi or Taurus Rossi?

I have a Rossi 974 .357 Magnum serial# F403397 and inside the wheel housing is stamped 712 and on the cylinder swing arm is stamped 5236. It has adjustable rear sights, is made of stainless steel and the firing pin is integral to the hammer. The front of the barrel extends beyond the barrel frame and is vented on top with 3 ports. I believe this is a VRC Vented Revolver Compensated but I'm not sure. It is shorter barreled than pictures of 4" barrels and longer than 2" ones. My question is "When was it manufactured and what is its current value? " and "Is this an older Rossi or a Taurus made Rossi?"
