The gun was a gift from my father. It belonged to my grandfather. It was recently stolen from my home. My father thought it was a model 96,but I haven't found that mod. number in the Winchester brand. I am thinking maybe a model 69? I am trying to get a value to turn in to the insurance company. I appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks

hello again ,,the 69 model winchester was a bolt action ,,if your sure it was a pump here the options
,,the oldest pump 22 would be a model 1890 this had an exposed hammer with a ribbed forarm ,,there were 3 different models i'll give you the values for a blued standard model they would be 750 fair ,,1500 good and 2000 exc,,made from 1890-1932

,,,the next possibility would be a model 1906 and again 3 model variations and also an exposed hammer model ,,the standard model would have insurance replacement values of 400 good,,750 vg,,1500 exc,, made from 1906-1932 and this model is basically a 1890 but a cheaper no fancy features rifle ,,

,,next in line would be a model 61 ,,this is a hammerless model ( no hammer on outside ) ,,insurance replacement value would be determined if pre ww2 or post ww2,,made between 1932-1963,,for a pre ww2 values are 600 good,,800 vg,,1500 exc,,for post ww2 values would be 450 good,,550vg,,and 800 exc

,,and finnaly it may have been a md 62 or 62a,,these were also introduced in 1932 and these replaced the 1890+1906 models ,,this model featured the exposed hammer like the models it replaced ,,again 2 versions pre war and post war,,pre war prices are 400 good,,850 vg,,and 1500 exc,,post war values 325 good,,450 vg,,and 600 exc,,those are the model you canresearc if ya want and maybe you can find one that looked like the one that was stolen ,,the first 2 are basical the same with changes to the stock and the last one looks very simular to the first 2 but was an updated model that you could interchange 22 s,l,or lr shell in were as the first model was not chambered to accept all 3 types of the 22 ammo and some were chambered for a special 22 winchester shell,,hope thats helps ya with possibilities of models,,good luck with finding the crooks and getting you rifle replaced or paid for

,,something that i can't stress to people enough is to record there serial numbers for all guns they own and put the numbers in a safe place because there is alot of guns being stolen these days and alot of people don't have them recorded as to make model and serial number ,,if it happens to you it's kinda tough to say well it was dads ,,dads gun and we never recorded the serial numbers ,,actually theres nothing to proove ya even owned it without some kind of documentation as to what you owned ,,just some friendly advice for everybody out there if something like this does happen to you !!it doesn't take long to record what ya have and when filling out a report it sure look better to know what was stolen!!!!!

My bad! I found my Grandfather book of his guns. It was a model 63 rimfire semi-automatic w/ser.# 141490A. This gun was in good condition. What would be the value of this gun?

Guest,

Your description of shells loading through the stock is the dead ringer for this rifle. That funny hole in the stock is easy to remember. I have seen them offered in the $600 to $1000 range dependant on the condition. The photo is a pretty nice one. $750

Sorry for your bad luck.
