i am trying to identify the age of my shotgun it is a remington 12ga side by side barrels the ser # is 128549 it also has has some kind of scroll type design on the barrels,is this demascus ,and will it shoot mordern ammo?

is this a hammergun or hammerless? and are there any patent dates on the barrels,,remember rule #1 when in doubt about damascus barrels have it looked at by a compentant gunsmith before you fire any shells in it!!! ,,better to be safe than sorry and ruin a good valuable shotgun..

With that serial number it has to be an 1894.
They made 42,000 of them from 1894-1910 other then a swag I can't date it better. You might try the Remington Society of America someone will know them better there. Also NO do NOT use modern ammo.
oh I should have mentioned, the serial numbers started at 100,000

We have a Old Remington 12 Ga Double Barrell and on the barrells it has engraved on one, 30 and the other 33. what does this mean?
