Old 22 rifle

I have an old 22 rifle handed down to me by my grandfather, in 1954, who said it was his fathers gun.

hello ,,without a maker or a model number it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack,,if you can post a clear pic of the bolt and receiver aera we may be able to come up with a manufacture,,also if you take the barreled receiver out of the stock ther may be some info underneith the woodline that could help us with a manufacture,,winchester usually used a w in an oval as a proof ,,remington used a rep in an oval,,as proof marks,, these are the 2 most commonly seen on older 22 ,,but savege stevens,marlin,,mossberg,,and a bunch of other firms made 22 single shot rifles and in the millions,,so without something ..we can't give you much more to go on than i already have ,,
