hello the new empire cresent shotgun has 2 models a no88 and a no9,,not sure on the differences..both are hammerless..sidelocks..may be engraving or stock configurations ,,just not alot of details in the book.. book value for either one is 250 good-400 exc..i can tell you that the cresent arms company made a bunch of different sxs's for many chain stores with many different labels for distributor and mail order houses ..and over 100 different tradenames were used on the shotguns..not alot of actual collectors intrest in them and mostly bought as inexpencive shooters other than collectors items ,,i;m not aware of a dateing system they used or serial numbers for years of manufacture since so many different models and makes were made ,,i do know that the "cresent" name was used after savage arms aquired the davis cresent arms co in 1932 but after that time frame details are scetchy and the company moved its operation to chicopee falls from norwich CT,,thats the best i can do for ya ..you might want to research the Cresent Davis Arms co and mabey ya can get some intresting history on the firm..
