Needing info, value and any possible history for a Winchester 16 Gauge pump shotgun. factory # 856 010 model # 12 27BBL. Bought back in the 60"s by my grandfather. Condition is excellent, dont believe it was ever used. My Grandmother has cancer so we are looking to sell it to pay for medical expences. Thanks for any help you could offer. Thanks

Caligirl,

I checked two different data sets and get 1940 in one and 1941 in the other. But if your grandfather boughtit in the 60's he was obviously not the original owner. But that does not affect the value.

If the gun is truly in excellent condition with very little loss of bluing and hardly any wear marks on the wood or metal it should be worth some place in the neiborhood of $1000.

A couple of things to check first. The gun must have matching serial numbers on the bottom of the receiver and the base of the barrel assembly. If they do not match or there is none on the barrel the value drops big time. Another point. Any chance the barrel is stamped skeet and has a matted rib on the top? If so, major value additions.

Get back to me with a bit more info and I can be more sure of a final value estimate.

Sorry for having to part with it.
Thanks

Thanks 2-bit for the valuable info. numbers do match but no skeet wording on the gun or ribbing on top. It is in excellent shape bluing looks great, inside is very clean, like I said before I dont think it was ever used. The piece is with my mom in Hawaii I am not there so this is all I can tell you about it. I appreciate all your help, I guess now were left with the question on how's the best way to sell it!!

Caligirl,

If you could get some good photos of it and send them to me I might run it past some of my collector friends. Send me a private message and I will pass on my email. Or you could list it on Gunbroker. www.gunbroker.com

Glad to help
