hello from a newbie
i have an old winchester model 12 12ga 28" mod barrel ser #18907xx. It has only had about 75 shots since new and is in near mint all original condition. It probably has not been fired since mid 1970s. I found out the year of manufacture was 1961.
My questions are:
what is the average price for this gun today?
how does the condition influence pricing?
how does the barrel length and/or choke influence the value of this gun?
was a modified cylinder rare?
what use would be appropriate for a modified choke?

I seem to see only full choke models for sale and I wonder if that is a good comparision for prices. thanks

hi johnny,
your model 12 was probly one of the most widely produced. a modified choke is meant for moderate ranges, i.e. duck, dove, squirrel etc. as for value the value would be comparable to the full choke. check on gunsamerica.com, their prices are in my oppinion generally high but that's a good place to start. condition of an older gun is by far the most important consideration in value. if it where a feather wieght the value would be increased a little.
