My husband has had this gun a while he got from his father. A friend was looking at it and told us we had a gem. Remington US 03A3 model # 3422153. I know nothing about guns but it looks all original. Has a leather strap with a number 27-036-4. Wood with some black. Can anyone tell me the history and value? I can post a picture if I need to.

hello,,a pic would be helpful to determine if it's an original 1903-a3 rifle ,,theres proably a date near the front site that will be marked something like this 3-43 and it may have a symbol that is a flaming bomb under it and possibly REP above the date,,should br little R marks on the barrel bands ,,possibly on some of the parts of the bolt and possibly on the small dished out aera on the left side of the stock where the little lever the (cutoff) moves up and down ,,also any markings on the stock left side above the trigger ,,may be some letters inside a box or crossed cannons or even an eagle with stars underneith,,is there a P behind the trigger guard stamped into the stock ? also does the stock have a pistol grip or is it a straight grip behind the trigger guard,,please post a pic and if it has any of the above let me know ,,all of the above will help the value if correct to the rifle,, the serial number places the rifle as being made in feb 1943,

There is an R on the lock and back sight, looks to be an 8 below the back sight, just in front of the US Remington Model 03-A3. I think it is a pistol grip. I don't know guns very well I'm sorry. I see on the butt of the back black stock FAJEN. Near the front sight is I think a P could be an F then below that looks to be a 9. I do not see any other markings.I have a couple of photo's, maybe that will help.

hello,,it's been sporterized ,,not a military rifle but a sporter built with a springfield action and possibly the original barrel it it's stamped near the front site ,,it also looks like the sites are replacements,,and the stock llooks like a bishop or fagen sporter with cheek peice,,the sporter job was done nicely,,and i'll say it's worth around 275-425 and thats will depend how the buyer would see it and want it !and how bad you want to get rid of it ! still a very nice rifle from your pics,,wish i could have saw the bolt side pics a little closer..
