I have just bought a used Winchester Mod.94 30/30. How do I determine which style or variation it is (Legacy, Ranger, Trapper, etc.)? Thanks.

hello ,,the different models have different features ,,the trapper has a shorter barrel than a standard carbine ,,the legacy had special features also like 20"24"+26" barrels with a pistol grip stock the wrangler was 32 wcf or a large loop lever ,,the heritage was limited production figures ,,without a good refrence book they all look the same ,,i use the standard encyclopidia of firearms, by dan shideler for refrence because there are over 25000 model listed and over 7500 pics of just about anything that comes up,,there are many good books out there for prices and the blue book is great for values but if you don't know what you have pics help alot and the blue book only covers model numbers and values ..no pics,,but it's the gundealers bible for prices ,,,most gundealers i know don't keep a current blue book and usually there books are at least 5 years out of date ,,thats how alot of times there buy or value prices are not up to speed with current book prices ..so my best advice to you if your intrested in buying and selling is to buy a current or at most a 1 year old refrence book either online or at a local gunshow ..

bigcurt: I ordered the encyclopedia that you suggested. Another question: What is the age (or approx. age) of my Model 94? The SN is 6424125? Thanks again for your help. Dan
