Ttree,

You got to ttell why 17 times? Was it a birthday? Wedding aniversary? Or was that how many bad guys were coming thru the door?

The serial number dates the rifle to being manufactured in 1959. That is nice because Winchesters manufactured prior to 1964 do have a higher value to collectors because they are nicer rifles. It is probably in the $600 range maybe a bit higher if it really is clean.

The rifle was my Dad's, he hunted in the early seventies, spent a few rounds sighting it in, and then killed several deer during that time, then became either too busy or something to continue hunting. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

I am always sentimental towards "Dad's Rifles". There is no replacing that value in a rifle. Take good care of it and some day it will be your child's "Grandpa's and Dad's Rifle". They only get more valuable.

I was more interested in the year. I'm hunting with it this season.
