Hello,

Great site!

I'm interested in the approximate value and date of this beautiful ol' Winchester. Rather than give you a subjective description, you can judge for yourself with the array of photos. I wasn't able to link all photos to this page below. If you need larger shots, let me know.

The full set of photos are here... http://photobucket.com/model94-32winchesterspecial? albumview=slideshow.

She has been pampered and fired only a handful of times in the last 25 years. Last target session she functioned flawlessly, as always, and was very accurate.

No scope holes or otherwise

Serial # 1205970 (with "W" underneath)

The number "36" is in front of the trigger

Thanks!

Hello Stan,

Great job on the pictures

Your 1939 vintage Model 94 Carbine is in "Excellent" condition, and the value is approximately $1250, possibly a few hundred more to a motivated collector.

Thanks Bert!

Now...

Any thoughts on how to best put collector and collectible together?

Roger that.

Do you think it would help to post a note somewhere on here once it's listed?

No I do not. 99% of the people who visit this site are not looking to buy a collectable Winchester.

Makes sense.

Curious, if I may... Why such a high price?

1. Is it really in that good a' shape?

2. Could you see the bit of rust spotting around the leaf area?

3. Is it because it's pre-war?

4. Or...?

Stan,

The overall condition of the gun is extremely good for a pre-WW II Model 94 Carbine, and Yes, being a pre-War gun helps it.

Is it possible/easy to remove/sand the barrel and re-blue without negatively effecting the value?

Stan,

Absolutely not... if you reblue the barrel, you can kiss $1000 good-bye!

Stan,

There was nothing hazy about my last reply... but I will restate it for you.

If you remove/sand the barrel and reblue it, you will reduce the value of the gun by roughly $1000 (not including the cost of having the work done to it). Hopefully that makes it clearer.

Sorry, Bert. I was kidding, there.

Looks like the only "hazy" one here was me, eh?

No, I definitely got it. I had a feeling a refinishing might hurt the value, but had no idea it would hurt it so much.

Oh. So do you have any for sale in that condition for $700.?

Let me know, and I'll buy a couple of them from you.

Ron,

Most of you Canadians are tightwads, nor do you understand the collector market here in in the States.
