hello,,it sounds like you have a 1916 short rifle made in spain in 1927,oveda was the government arsenal where it was actually made ,,there are things to concider with any military rifle as is the case with any vintage firearm,,and the main one is ..originality!is it still in the original full lenght stock with upper handguard..or is the stock cutdown to a spoter style lenght?next you need to know if the bolt and any metal parts you can see that are numbered match the main serial number usually located on the side of the receiver,,the next factor when appraising a military rifle is..has any of the wood been refinished and are there any serial number or proof marks stamped into the stock,,also on spanish mausers it is very typical to find small cracks in upper part of the stock near the top tang aera (where your thumb would rest while pointing the rifle)and finnally is it import stamped? all these factors add or subtract actual collector value..
,,,now you can place a value on the rifle,,if it's a matching not import stamped rifle with original wood stock with a barrel band and a bayonet lug and cleaning rod at the end of the stock with original finishes on wood and metal and not altered in any way,,value would be around 200-250 possibly even 300 if really clean and matching to a military collector,,if your rifle is in the military stock but not matching serial numbers and import stamped near the end of the barrel then prices are between 125-175 if its pretty clean otherwise,,if it's been sporterized in any way,,like cut stock no handguard,,scope mounts or holes drilled for a scope,,or different sites ,,it's worth around 100 bucks or less depending how nice the sporter job was done maybe,, a little more to a hunter looking for an inexpencive deer rifle to throw in the truck.
