I have recently come into possession of an M1 Carbine, and was wondering if anyone could help me with some valuing and questions about the weapon. I am fairly knowledgeable about WWII weapons and production, but was looking for the help of some real experts. Okay. The weapon. The stock is marked P-U with GHD UEF which makes me pretty positive that it is a Type 3 Underwood Stock. The barrel is also marked Underwood, 1944 (1244?). Now to the reciever. The reciever is marked S/N 48289XX and is marked Quality Hardware LLC. (I believe, I cannot see the entire marking under the Type III adjustable sight) It truly is a beautiful weapon and is in very good shape. I apologize for not having more pictures, I will try to post some soon. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the value of this gun, any input would be much appreciated.
Thank You,

hello ..it does look like a very nice carbine,,i've owned a few carbines and used to have a book with all the parts id and correct parts for carbines by makers ,,but when i sold my carbines.. i sold my books also,,i do remember that at some point quality hardware and underwood were a hand and hand operation and i used to own a un-quality marked receiver ,,it was the only one i ever saw like it and had some collectors tell me it may have been a dealers sample ..i would recommend you picking up a copy of joe poyers book on carbines ,,it's invaluable when trying to find out just how correct your carbine is ,,a correct carbine non import stamped is bringing around 650-850 depending how many original parts are still on it ,,most if not all carbines have seen at least 1 rebuild at some time in it's lifetime and your has had the late war updates with at least the rear site,,does it have the bayonet lug update also?

,,the finish looks very good and has a look of possibly being refinished at some time but shouldn't hurt the values because it looks good and not overdone ..the carbine book i mentioned is available online for around 20 bucks ,,i'll see if i can find ya a link or try a search on joe poyer,,its 20 bucks well spent for m1 carbine collectors..

Go to www.odcmp.com and read the carbine forum. Then look at the carbines for sale at CMP. No better resource exists!
