My friend has owned her Grandfather's Winchester model 12 - 12 gauge 2/3/4 cham full pump action made in New Haven Ct. with proof steel serial # 1244***. She needs to sell the shot gun and wants basically what it's worth. Neither one of us knows much about condition but it has no nicks or scratches that I can see, you all mention bluing I really don't know what that means. By reading other descriptions I can tell you that the metal parts are not shiny if that helps. It's been in a cotton sack and I don't see any rust. What year was it made and what would be a fair offer for her to accept?
Thanks for whatever information you can give me.
your friends winchester was made in 1950 ..blueing in the steel color it should be a dark blue shade ,,and should be even in appearance ,,you may see some aeras where the blueing looks silver from use and handling ,,a md 12 from 1950 should bring between 350-500 depending how nice it is and how much of the original blue finish remains ,,there are model 12 collectors out there and they will sometimes pay more than the quoted prices ,,i'd start at 450-500 and go from there and wouldn't take any less than 350- 400 if it's in good condition ,,a gunshop might offer you around 200-250 for it especially if they think you don't know what you have ,,so be informed before you walk into a gunshop..
Thanks for the information. I will pass it on and let you know what happens.
