hello again now thats a very nice looking krag also and it may be carbine model in which case you've got another jewel there serial numbers for the 1898 carbines were between 118,000-134,000 and only 5000 rifles were built in this range ,, it would have a 22 " barrel and should have a saddle ring and bar on the left side ,,there was an 26" barreled version but production was limited to 100 for trials and serial numbers would be somewhere between 387,000-389,000 but many krags were altered from original rifle model to look like carbines so be aware of this when you go te sell this one ,,it appeares from your pic to have a altered rear site and may have been a cut down rifle serial numbers for the 1898 rifle would be between 110,000-480,000 and there were 330,000 of the 98 model rifles made ,,now the history is outa the way,,so you need a value ,,first off ya gotta figure if it's a carbine or a cutdown rifle ,,kinda tough for a novice and i'd proably have a tough time without close examination and a refrence book in front of me especially if it falls into the possible serial number range,,but that said i still think you shouldn't have any problems seeing between 450-600 for it as i see it at auction or to a krag collector ,,but thats an estimate and it's based on what i can see in your pic ,,around here krags have a tendancy of being good sellers and i haven't seen a cutdown model bring less than 400 and it was pretty shoddy looking at that,,but if it's can be documented as a original carbine then in the condition shown it could easily see 2000 at auction or from a collector possible even with the modified rear site.. but it all depends what you have ,,,cutdown rifle/carbine or original carbine,,tomato or tomata,,lol,,still a very decent looking krag!!
