just inherited a chicom sks type 56 as well as a chicom m-1944 copy commonly known as type 53 in good shape..with the dd603 & dd603-1 vietnam bring back paperwork. both carbines' papers have the same dates and names.the only flaw i can find is that the type 53 is missing the cleaning rod.
curious as to estimated value?
thanks for your time.....bryan

hello,,sounds like ya inherited a couple nice war trophys ,,well with the dod documents you have with them i'd estimate the sks to value 500-650 to a serious vietnam collector,,and thats an estimate and it could even go higher in some surroundings ,,chinese sks rifles are bringing between 250-300 these days and although the paperwork is great to have the vietnam brinback need to age a few more years to reach there actual potential in the collectors market

,,as for the type 53 carbine ,,also a very nice peice with the paperwork to go with it and i'd estimate it to bring around 300-400 and again possibly even more to the right collector or at a good online auction with a proper description and pictures ,, and a import stamped non bringback these days only sells for around 100 if your luckey,,so you have 2 very nice examples of the standard rifles used by the vietcong,,during the nam conflict

,,as a side not i picked up a russian md 44 with original bringback papers about 3 years ago,,it was listed in the wrong catagory and poorly listed as a russian md 44 ,,i picked it up for 75 bucks and have turned down 350 for it since then,,so this is what i ment by proper listing and pics,,
congrats on a couple nice peice's of vietnam history ,,and they will alway raise in value as the years go by ,,keep them oiled and put them away if ya can someday down the road they will acheive the collector intrest the ww1 and ww2 weapons have today ,,and who know what the value might hit !

just what i was looking for as there is a veritable dearth of info on these bringbacks available...may drag 'em to the gun show to see what kind of interest if any that they generate as a pair w/ matching paperwork...
again, i appreciate your time
thanks

hello again ,,if you do ,,don't let shaddy dealers tell ya md 53 are only brings pennys or sks's aren't selling these days because that bs and we are not talking about run if the mill import rifles we are talking original documented war trophys ,,and dealers will try to downplay every scratch on them ,,but remember this most people who are intrested will downplay flaws to try to get the price reduced ,,if it were me i would go into a show with a 1000 minimal dollar price tag for both of them and sell them as a pair only ,,no less ..and if they sell ok.. and if not.. theres always a better show down the road ,,if they do i feel that 1000 for the pair is fare and with still some room to move with them,,beleive me i've played the game with gunshow dealers before and ya gotta play to win!!!just my thoughts on the gunshow game ,,
