ok i think i'm up to speed on this one ,,well is this the one dated 1899? if so it's close to the range for a carbine model but a little low ,,carbines are seen in the 222609-362256 range so yours could be a cutdown ,,if done properly it still can have some value as a faux carbine ,,or lookalike example ,,if it's dated 1899 it should be a carbine ,,in the 20's there were some arsenal conversions done ,,these are typically 1898 models that were cutdown to 24 " and then had 1899 stocks added ,,for 175 you did good anyway ya look at it ,,if a nice conversion or even an original arsenal conversion it should still value 250-400 depending how nice it is ,,if it could be an original 1899 carbine it could start at poor for 500 and go up from there ,,any chance of a pic? that may help some ..

curt, what is your opinion on the use of .303 brass instead of 30-40 brass. i did some careful measuring today, and im not impressed. too much difference for me. im the guy that got the krag for 175 bones. im 35 yrs old, but have been reloading ammo since i was 12 yrs old, so, iver got a pretty good idea of what im doing. i posted the '06 loads. anyway, there is just too much difference in the two cartriges for me, but i value other opinions. any thoughts? i might not be on here all the time , but will check to see if i get any hits thanks, nick (cnadude)
