After shooting, the shells do not come-out, I have to force the barrel more, then they come-out. When loading the same happens. Is there something wrong or is this the way it is? I use this shotgun for cowboy shooting and I am losing a lot of time. Number on shotgun is 580

sounds like you have a tight one ,,i've seen them really tight and they never really spit them out on there own like the single shot ones do..i would mabey try taking the forarm off and barrels and cleaning and oiling the inside where the barrels attach,,mabey theres powder residue or dirt from shooting also make sure the ejector rods and ejector is oiled and not stickey ,,also try some different brands of ammo ,,some may be hotter than others and may be swelling your cases more than others causing harder ejection..
just some ideas to try

For me its the gap. When I open it, there is still not enough gap for the shell to come-out. I need to force it more.

are you saying that when you initially break it open it's not opening enough and you have to open it more..mabey sommething a smith may be able to look at more , they should open enough to pull the shells out on the first break..but like i said it may just need a through cleaning becauce something sounds like it's sticking or mabey a springs broke or stuck ,,it may be the easiest thing to start with if you really like the shotgun,,did it always do this since you got it? or is it something that just started?

You started off saying exactly what my problem is. I then need to force it more to get the clearance. I did clean it and found nothing. I called a smith and he told me that this is normal (TOO HARD TO BELEIVE). I will take it to another. I do like the shotgun, but I can not compete like this.
Thanks for your help and interest. Edmundo

we have one at a shop i frequent ..it's a 20 ga stevens and for the heck of it i tried it yesterdayit's tight also ..i asked the smith about it and it seems like exactly what your is doing and he said pretty much the same thing ,,some of them are just tight with close tolerances when it comes to shell ejection,,this one is pretty old and is a little worn especially around the cocking levers and he said that sometimes the levers will get bent but to dissasemble it was more of a pain than it's worth,,he said they just weren't made for rapid fire shots and more or less just designed as a good rabbit gun where ya had 2 shots and reloading wasn't split second.. and sometimes ya have to pull on the barrels for the shells to come out and clear the receiver,,so i don't know if trying to fix yours would be feasable or worth the time it would take and parts cost to fix it
