Ithica Mod 37R

I have several Mod 37's Why wil some barrels inter change with the same grade of gun and others won't Also I just ppurchased a 16 ga 900,000 Sr# It came with 2 barrls but they don't have serial #'s Is this odd? Thanks For any info you may have Gary
