20 ranger 16 ga dbl barrel shotgun
Guest

hi need some help on this one... i have a 120 ranger marked as such, with a double trigger, and double barrel, it says 120 ranger on itand is from around the early 1980's.. is this gun a savage, stevens or a winchester, it is not a pump or bolt action gun and does not have a double hammer.
i was told it was a winchester gun made for sears around the early 80's i need to clarify this as soon as possible any help would be apprediated! thanx eb

well this is unusual,,because i see why someone told you it was a winchester ..the cross refrence on a ranger 120 listd winchester as the original maker BUT lists it as a pump copy of the 1200 model,,there was a ranger md 400 which was a copy of the 311 stevens double which i beleive might be what you have ,,look at the water table and see how it's proofed ,,the water table is the aera under where the barrels attach or the hindging aera when opened,,the ledge on the receiver should be marked with the serial number under the barrels should also be marked and may have a proof mark of some sort ,,winchester used a w in an oval usually marked somewhere on the gun usually the top of the barrel but possibly underneith..the ranger model name is pretty much common to winchester these days and pretty much is there economy grade no thrills versions,,but i don't see an economy grade winchester double except for there md 24 which isn't really an economy grade and was made untill 1957,,without seeing yours and a 311 side by side it's tough to tell exactly what you have but i'm betting it might be a 311 variation..as far as my cross refrence goes winchester did not make a double for sears ..but i'll search around and see if i can find any other info for ya,,
