Inherited a Smith & Wesson 38 special CTG 4 inch barrel. Looks like it's never been fired. Serial # 3D73419 Any idea of value.
hello,,depending on the model number the pistol is ..it can range from 200-?,,open the cylinder and look inside on the frame and see if it has a model designation stamped in the aera of the yoke ,,if not try removeing the grips and see if theres a model number stamped into them ,,have to know which model it is before i can get ya a ballpark value ..
$250-4300 on the used market. Mfg around 1980 with the D in the serial #. A nice old Smith. It is known as the model 10 Military and Police revolver. In production since 1899. Still in production today with some internal changes.
Yours should have a pinned barrel [there is a small securing pin at the barrel/frame junction. Newer Smiths do not have this feature] Great gun.
I don't want to rattle your cage, but do you realize you are posting "answers" to threads that are 2 and 3 years old? These people have long since moved on. I've seen three such posts from you so far.
I have no objection to you doing this, but it seems like a waste of time and energy.
I just joined a few minutes ago. thanks for the heads up. I would've thought the site would archive the threads that old.
I'll try and pay better attention to the posts.
Thanks Amigo...happy trails to you
You are quite welcome. And welcome to the Gun Values Board!
The date of any post is in the upper right hand corner of the text window.
Saw your reply, also inherited a similar gun. Looking for a screw missing forward of the trigger.on the right side. Could use some help.
Answered on the other thread. The one you started.
Never done this before so excuse me if I'm doing something wrong. I received my fathers service revolver when he died. He was in World War II, Korea and Vietnem. It is a Smith & Wesson 38 Special CTG. It has the number K 266504 in 3 or 4 places. The number behind the cylinder is A on top, 37866 in the middle and 9 on the bottom. It is not mint as it has been used but it is in very good shape and shoots. It has some wear on the blueing on the barrel tip as it has been in a holster for many, many years and we use to shoot it some times. Can you give me the year and value. It also has what I believe are Silver Trademark Inserts on the butt but they may be gold.
But some of us years later get info. From it because the question comes up in Google. Answered or not. Thanks for the help with my sw model d Mike...
