The model 60 has been around for a long time. It is very accurate, easy to clean and can hold a lot of ammo. K-Mart sells them in a package with a scope and case for about $120.00. I have owned several.

Ask a busy gun repair shop. They'll tell you they get quite a few Marlins in for repair and almost no Rugers.

I'll second that. Great first time semi-automatic. Good and accurate and reliable, rugged enough for a kid, and at a great price.

Cheap, accurate and fun to shoot. Easy to load tubular magazine and not that idiotic rotary magazine found on the 10/22.

I have the Marlin 60 and Savage 64F. Both were considererably less than the 10/22 in cost. They both shoot great. I was surprised to shoot my friends 10/22 and find that I liked the Savage better in my hands. The Marlin is a fine gun I got for my son just for the fact I did not need to purchase extra magazines for it. The tube feed was the right thing. The 10/22 is an excellent gun . In the final analysis for me, the cost of the 64F + M60 was the same as the 10/22 alone.
