Hello everyone-

I just bought a remington model 12 today and was wondering if any of you gun guru's could help me out? It has a 24 inch octagon barrel, original metal curved butt plate-the barrel is stamped EB. On top of the barrel is remington arms-union metallic cartrige company patents-1909-1910-1911-1912 22 short, long or long rifle. S/N 831134.

I am looking for year mfg, and a value.

If anyone can help me that would be great.

Thanks

your remington md 12 pump 22 was made from 1909-1936 and was available in many different grades,,the EB may be the year code and if so would have been made in oct =E of 1933=B,,remington started useing the date codes in 1921 and being your rifle was made from 09-36 it could be older but i would say it's 1933 ,,yours sounds like a md 12C and current book values put it in the 250 fair-500 exc range,,dealers will proably offer in the 150-250 range for average guns

Thanks --bigcurt

The info that I found on this gun all said that mod 12c should have something stamped on the barrel and this one does not have anything on the side, so that made me wonder. It sure would be a whole lot easier if remington had a serial number lookup like winchester. any way thanks for your response!!!!

from what my books tell me the md 12 and 12A had 22" barrels,,the 12 B was a gallery rifle chambered for 22 short only so the 12C sounds like your model ,,they did make other grades but in different calibers and most of the time with some form of engraving

I thought you said it was stamped EB???
Interesting this gun was made in 1933 but it wasn't send out of the factory until 1936, the last years they didn't make a lot but usually the serial list and barrel codes line up at least within a year. This gun was within the last 500 or 600 ever made...
Serial no lists do exist

A 12C in like new condition can bring between 1,200-1,500.-

The other model is the 12cs it's the only one that is different ammo it is 22 remington special aka WMR.

The Engraved models are E,D,F which F being the highest level of engraving and wood. Engraved models can bring substantial sums!
