I am seriously considering entering the gun business right now. I have a good amount of cash to spend, a very serious business sense( I have previously owned and sold 4 businesses)and I'm looking for a niche in the gun trade to exploit if there is such a thing. Can anyone give me some advice on this subject? All advice and opionions are welcome.
I have been involved with hunting and guns all my life, but guns as a business has just recently picked my interest in a big way.

hi tbkeller,
i'm no expert to say the least but of the 4 friends i have that have the FFL, two are struggleing gunsmiths, one works for someone else in a gunshop and the last is doing quite well running a pawnshop where guns are his major interest. the major concern that all have is keeping up to date with the required paperwork and the changes that come about on a regular basis, and the feds are very diligent in their quest to insure that you're doing it correctly.

Kim,
Thank you for your input. This obviously would not be something that I based my living on but It would be a combined business/hobby that may or may not turn into more. I have researched the FFL issues and I certainly agree that it can be highly administrative - probably rightfully so in most cases. And I would likely focus on mid-range handguns at the beginning for lack of another choice - price, storage, display, ETC.
The pawn shop arena is actually something that steered me in this direction due to the fact that the economy is so bad and people are selling everything they have at distressed prices to make the mortgage payments. Not actually starting a pawn shop but using them as a source for product.
