I'm still looking for the age and value of a Iver Johnson 12 gauge single shot shotgun. There is no serial number on this gun and on the 28 inch long barrel it has IVER JOHNSON PAT APLD FOR. So this gun was made before the patend was approved.

sorry i didn't have a chance to answer your question earlier ,,iver johnson shotguns were made from 1909 thru 1956 and i've seen many without serial numbers but usually they have a letter or combination of letter i beleive can be used for identification ,,sometimes the serial may be on the barrels or on the shelf under the barrels ,,sometimes the stock has to be removed and there may be a serial on the tang only visable when the stock is removed ,,

,,there were 3 basic models made ,,the first is there champion line ,,this model was made in a varity of guages and also available in a 44 and 45 caliber . range from 75 good -175 excellent made from 1909-1956
,,,the next was a matt rib grade which had a matt rib barrel available in only shotgun guages .. made 1909-1948
,,,and finally there was a trap grade that came with a 32"vent rib barrel ,,made from 1909-1942
