I'm looking at a Colt 45 1911 SN#1796673 M 1911 A1 USArmy stamped on the side. It also says US Property. It looks like a later model since it has Remington Rand Inc Syracuse, NY USA stamped on it. It also has FJA stamped above the trigger. It's fairly worn. Any ideas on value or year?

The year of manufacture for serial number 1796673 is 1944.

Made By Remington Rand.

Saw a: REMINGTON RAND 1911A1; 45 ACP; excellent bore, very good grips, 5'' barrel, FJA inspected. Original finish. Appears to be parts correct. L marked magazine., s/n 17483xx

Asking: $2,750.00

It was in very good shape too.

Other than that, I am no help at all to you.

hello,,you say the condition is fairly worn ,,for a standard remington rand made from 1943-1945 in good condition the value in the book is only 900 good and 1400 exc,, ..and i'd say if below good condition i wouldn't offer any more than 650 for it ,, now the one imnohero was talking about might be worth around 1500 but i think 2750 is way too high on that one also,,from what i'
ve seen online and at the shows ,,try gunbroker .com or auction arms .com and see what they have if your looking for a 1911,,,,i'm gonna do some surfing tonight and see what i can find and see what the auction houses are selling them for ,,and just because theres some there with high dollar figures ..unless they have a bid there not selling at those prices ,,always look for items with bids and go from there !!!
