You need to post the maker and some idea of the barrel condition.
An original Hawken rifle predates the Civil War. Thompson Center has been making reproductions for a long time.
Black powder corrodes steel and "Hawken" rifles are muzzleloading blackpowder rifles. If not cleaned properly soon after being shot (a couple of weeks) the metal starts to corrode, accuracy lost and thus value is lower.
I bought an Italian reproduction in .54 caliber and found it more accurate with round balls than the normal "mini ball".
The action would not stay cocked after a few shots and needed work by a gunsmith to make the lockwork operate. (Pretty dangerous if the hammer won't stay back when cocked and loaded).
So look on the barrel to find the maker and "bore scope" the barrel to check its condition. Post that for any chance of getting an idea of price.
PS My rifles have fancy wood, good fitting patch boxes, brass ram rod, various tools that screw on the rod. Pretty fancy slings. All make for higher value. Just a heads up. Thor
